Monitor New Zealand Limited
Take the test on your alarm monitoring company
Quite simply, if your alarm monitoring company is too busy to answer the phone when you ring them during peak periods, then it is quite reasonable to conclude that they are probably under staffed, and therefore unlikely to be able to act with urgency when you truly need them to.
So here are a couple of things that you can do to at least get a good measure of your current service providers ability.
- Ring your current service provider tonight at 6:30 and see how long it takes for you to get to talk with an operator (be sure to time this from the first ring, as this will become the first measure), then when you do get through, say who you are and ask the operator to tell you the current state of your alarm system (the time that it takes to perform this simple task will give you a second measure).
As a 'rule of thumb' the time taken for you to speak with an operator when you ring up, roughly equates to the time it will take that same operator to know that there is something untoward happening at your premises. The time it takes for the operator to tell you the current status of your alarm, roughly equates to the time that it will take that same operator to react on your instruction if someone breaks into your premises.
Once you have done this, add the two times together and if the total time is greater than two minutes, then … (well, we will let you form your own conclusions)
- Go back to your premises outside normal business hours (such as on a Sunday afternoon), turn off the alarm system and then time how long it takes your alarm monitoring company to ring you to find out who is in the building and whether you have a right to be there (we are assuming here that you subscribe to a full level of service).
While you are waiting for this phone call, imagine what you could be doing if you were a disgruntled former employee who had taken a copy of the key to the front door.
If, as a result of having conducted these tests you are totally satisfied with the outcome, we suggest that you retain the services of your current service provider and ring the manager of that company the next day to congratulate him/her on their service levels.
Should you not be happy with the results of the tests that you have conducted, we invite you to conduct the same test on us. We would welcome the opportunity to demonstrate our efficiency to you. But please understand that we won't be able to do the last half of test one, or test two, as we do not currently monitor your alarm.
If the results of your having applied the test to us are such that you would like us to be your service provider, you can contact us by submitting our simple contact form.
